Our First Queen

Finally after months of searching for the right queen to breed Celtic Twilight with we have found her!  The week before Christmas we will drive up to Armagh in Northern Ireland to collect the new addition to our family  - Princess Jasmine from Risetta Persians.  She is a beautiful Seal Tortie Tabby Colourpoint Persian kitten.  Her colouring will darken as she gets older but you can already see the striping slightly in her tail and paws.

I cant wait to have two of the most beautiful cats at my first show in February!!!

There are so many different colours kittens that can come out of this match so stay tuned!!!!

Have You Heard of The Furminator? It Will Change Your Life!

I do not need to do too much explaining here as the video below will do just that. I will say that this is one of the best things I bought in quite a long time. I would say it has cut down on the amount of dog and cat hairs in my house by 90%. I used to pick my dogs up and I would just be covered in their white hairs. Not anymore!!!

Cheapest price I have found these is on amazon, they are a bit more expensive in your local pet shop.

Treat Your Pet To A Water Fountain

Does your cat prefer to drink from the tap?  Most cats are not too fond of water that has been sitting in their bowl.  As a result they dont drink enough water and this can lead to various health problems.  It is the same situation for dogs.  There is water fountains on the market for your pets that can solve this problem.  They usually range in price between 40 - 60 euros but I found a very cheap one on Zooplus UK
http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_bowls_feeders/cat_fountains/67700

At only £15.90 it is really worth treating your little babies to some constant fresh running water.  Although I cant say it has stopped my cat from sticking his head into any drink I leave down and knocking it over!

Before you say it, I know my animals are spoiled but they deserve it!

Shopping Advice For Your Pets

Just to let everyone know the cheapest Royal Canin food I have found is on Mollys Pet Boutique.  http://www.mollys.ie  A 10kg Bag of Royal Canin Kitten Food will cost 54 euros compared to 70+ in most pet stores.  All orders over thirty euros are shipped for free too!

For most other things, I have found Zooplus UK the cheapest! (http://www.zooplus.co.uk) Whatever you do don't order from Zooplus Ireland because it is more expensive and they both come directly from the UK anyways!  I got a  hooded cat litter box for £14.99 and the cutest little hoodie for my dog for £9.99 (not the dog in the picture)

Best Way to Clean Your Persian Cats Eyes

Another bit of priceless advice I got from the Cat Show in Dublin was to use Optrex to clean my cats eyes.  Wow, what a difference this makes compared to just using warm water.  To be honest it is just as good as the Eye Envy solution.  If you combine this with the Eye Envy powder their eyes come out show quality and its a bit cheaper!

The Best Diet For Your Persian

I cant thank Carol from Allura Felines in Cork enough for giving me the best advice on what to feed my cat.  I was feeding him Royal Canin Dry Kitten Food and a pouch of Felix the cat wet food but his tummy was always upset and the staining on his eyes was very bad.  After going to the Dublin cat show, Carol told me to start feeding him cooked chicken instead of the Felix cat and those problems would go away.  Sure enough 4 days after I started him on his new chicken diet and his eyes and stomach drastically improved.  So did the smell of his you know whats!

Plus to buy a 2,000kg chicken in Tesco is around 6 euros and this feeds him for two weeks.  It would cost me around 12 euros in Felix for two weeks.  So not only is it miles better for him, it is actually working out at half the price too!  I just cook him roast chicken once every two weeks and freeze most of it in little freezer bags.  I cant recommend it enough - Mush absolutely loves it too!

The Best Way To Wash Your Cat!

After weeks of washing Mush in the bath and nearly escaping death each time, it occurred to me today to try the shower.  I figured it could not possibly get any worse than giving him a bath.  Well I don't know how I did not come across advice somewhere with all my research but giving your cat a shower is definitely the best way to wash him.  He was so much more relaxed and didnt even try to get out.  He also got a much more thorough washing.  Thank god we discovered this, now Mush and I will get along even better!

Great Moments Caught On Camera

Now look who are the best of friends!!!

 Somebody likes honeydew melon!
 Our evening nap time!
Is he a stuffed toy or what?

About a week later and Mush is settling in very nicely.  He has taken to lying on my nightstand - don't you just want to kiss his little face!  Notice his lilac nose and paw pads - typical of a Lilac Solid Persian.

Cute shot of Mush content in my arms!

Curled up in his other favorite spot, Johnnies pillow!

Starting to look a little scraggly, might be time for his first bath soon.
We discovered that Mush has rag doll qualities which is unusual for a persian.  He just flops in your arms if you pick him up while he is asleep.  Too cute for words - how did I get such a great cat?

Bringing Home My First Persian Cat

I can honestly say that bringing home Celtic Twilight from Kazbara Persians was one of the best days of my life.  I had dreamed of owning a Persian since I was a little girl, maybe around 5?  Then as I was a teenager I became fascinated by breeding and showing cats as a hobby.  I had always imagined that someday I would be in a position to follow my dream and now I can.  It felt great to cross that one of my bucket list.  In this first shot Celtic Twilight badly needs a brushing and his eyes cleaned, something I am going to have to get used to!

After hours of trying to introduce the kitten to the dogs, they finally sat on the same couch without any drama!!!

Johnnie gives Twilight a mohawk!!!!  It was in the car journey that the nick name Mush was decided upon.  We had just moved to Birr, where everyone calls each other Mush.  Plus his face so cute and mushed in so it seemed like a perfect name and it stuck!

My First Lilac Solid Male Persian Kitten!

Here is one of the first pictures I received from the breeder of my new little boy!  He is an extremely rare lilac solid persian solid male long haired persian.  He is the only lilac solid to ever be registered in Ireland, how priveleged am I?  I cant thank Karen Rima from Kazbara Persians enough for giving me such a wonderful kitten and giving me so much advice. You can also see his tortie sister in the background.  She is so tiny compared to him and his solid black brother.

He is starting the gladius position that Persians are so famous for very early!!!!!!
Here is a picture of the whole litter.  You can see his two brothers here too - the colour point and the black solid.  I tell you it was a hard choice they were all so gorgeous.  Twilight stole my heart when he started to lick my hand and then the decision was made!
